What are Modular Homes?

There are many benefits to getting a modular house. Not only can it be better value for money, it can also be more durable and energy efficient. So what exactly is a modular home, and why are they becoming increasingly popular?

A modular house is a building that has been prefabricated inside a factory. All the components of the building can be shipped to the building site and then assembled onto a foundation. The foundation, of course, has to be built on the site.

Modular homes are portable buildings in that they can be shipped from the factory to your site. However, they are not portable in the sense that caravans are portable. Once assembled, there is little difference between a modular house and a regular site-built house.

It is a misconception that all modular buildings look alike. Not all prefabricated houses need to look the same. There are many choices that you can make to add a personal touch to your home. Modular buildings are designed to be constructed in sections.

This means that you can go on adding modules to your home as per your requirements. A modular home can be upsized or downsized very quickly thanks it its efficient modular design. Thanks to an increasing demand from consumers, there are many companies manufacturing modular buildings today.
