Autonomatic
Autonomatic explore the application of digital technologies to traditional crafts-based skills. They asked us to produce promotional materials for a series of talks, and a catalogue to accompany an exhibition. The brief was to reflect the human, hand-made element in their use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) processes.
We used a ‘wandering path’ motif, applied across all the printed materials, extended in the catalogue design with additional abstract images. These were inspired by 2D shapes present in the early part of the CAD process, before conversion to 3D. Emphasis was placed on natural and organic elements within the shapes to reference the integration of human and computer.
